Reading Fun!

“The more that you read, the more things you will know The more you learn, the more places you’ll go.”— Dr. Seuss, “I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!”

Dr. Seuss never seems to fail at giving great advice! Taking in to account what he has to say, start gearing the kids up for the greatest adventure of their lives…reading!

Show children the magical world of fairytales and princesses or take them back in time to when the dinosaurs lived. Showing children the fun of reading early on will only make them more excited to learn to read themselves!

If you need help picking out great stories to read to your children or want some fun activities to do that go along with those books, take a look at this great reading website for both parents and educators: Reading is Fundamental (www.rif.org).  Some of our favorite sections of this website include:

 ·      The RIF Multicultural Literacy Campaign.  This is a multi-year effort to promote and support early childhood literacy in African-American, Hispanic and Native American communities.

·      The Advice and Tips section for Educators.  This new section of their site offers practical tips for making reading fun for kids and expert advice on monthly reading topics.

·      Literacy games for kids. This section of their site features some fun reading and writing games and activities!

With all of the books you will be reading, you will definitely be in need of a place to store all of them. Well, you’re in luck! The Little Tikes Mission Design Storage Unit is great for storing everything from books, to toys, to school supplies. With two large shelves and 6 easy-to-clean, removable storage bins, you’ll have plenty of space to store everything!

Once your reading room is organized, take the time to find your favorite children’s stories so you can start sharing the joy of reading with all of your children!
