Here at Litte Tikes the snow is starting to fly and the cold blustery air is settling in. Depending on where you live you may be experiencing the same thrill. If you have not yet gotten around to winterizing your outdoor play area, I thought I would bring you some great tips today to help keep your Little Tikes toys looking their best.
If you are one of the lucky ones to experience temperatures below freezing (32 degrees Fahrenheit or 0 degrees Celsius), you should consider storing your Little Tikes products in a warmer, more protected area, like a shed or garage. Exposure to extreme cold can be harmful to plastic. In colder weather our plastic can become less resilient.
If you do decide to store your Little Tikes products in the shed or garage, remember that our products scrub up great with some warm soapy water and a soft bristle brush. If it’s not too cold in your part of the country yet, you might even get the kids to help out! Teach the kids in your care the importance of taking care of their things and that everything has it’s place. Store your playhouses in a shed and make up silly songs about seeing the playhouses again in the spring. Pretend that the toys need to hibernate and talk about all of the different animals that “go to sleep” for the winter just like they the playhouse will be doing.
You might even consider bringing a few of your Little Tikes toys indoors. Last year at the childcare my daughter goes to, when it snowed, the director would even scoop up some snow and fill our Builder’s Bay™ Sand & Water Table with it. The kids would put on their gloves and build little snow men. Imagine the stories your children will go home with after they’ve built a snow man inside!
There are so many lesson plans that can be created just around winterizing your outdoor play area besides helping to protect your investment for years to come. Remember to send us your ideas of how you can bring the fun imaginative play that Little Tikes toys’ promote indoors all winter long.
